Abstract:

The collection consists of the papers of Alwin C. Carus, from 1900 to 2004, including personal correspondence, business correspondence, business records, farming records, newspapers, newsletters, slides, photographs, video, film, maps, and information on his family history. This collection documents portions of Illinois history over the last one hundred years, along with farming trends over the last fifty years in the Western United States. In addition, the collection reflects Carus's family, his father Paul Carus, and the origins of his family in Germany. Carus continued to correspond with family all over the world until his death in 2004.
