Early American History Textbooks   (2009-09-18)

These early textbooks, especially the secondary school ones, are interesting, because they were written closer to the time of the Civil and Spanish American War. There is much more detail included than in later books, where they have to cover additional wars as well. It is fascinating to read history books that don't know what is about to happen and that are much closer to the "recent events" of their time.
