Originally issued 1844-45 in eight numbers, with paper covers bearing title: Oneóta, or The red race of America. Reissued 1845 in one volume under title: Oneóta, or Characteristics of the red race of America. Afterwards issued under various titles: The red race of America; the Indian in his wigwam; The American Indians; Western scenes and reminiscences. cf. Sabin.
Appendix contains narratives of the captivities of Alexander Henry, Quitin Stockwell, Peter Williamson, Jonathan Carver (by themselves), Frances Noble, and a Mrs. Scott.
