New horizons series ran on Wednesdays and featured American explorers. In this episode, a dramatic history of human transportation from horseback and early boats up to the age of air travel with a look at the future of air travel in 1959. Tales from far and near series ran on Thursdays. In this episode, an adaptation of the original story by C. Walter Hodges: The first attempt of Christopher Columbus to find a route to India by sailing west, and the "new world" he discovered.
