Materials include news clippings; files of the Universal Negro Improvement Association; correspondence of Amy Garvey; documents and correspondence pertaining to Marcus Garvey's imprisonment received from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation through the Freedom of Information Act; Marcus Garvey's prison letters (1925-1927); Universal Negro Improvement Association publications; issues of Negro World News magazine (1921-1932); issues of Black Man magazine edited by Marcus Garvey (1934-1938); photographs; data on the origin of the African flag; financial statements; speeches and articles by Marcus Garvey and Amy Jacques Garvey; certificates; scrapbook of news clippings on Marcus Garvey; scrapbook compiled by Amy Jacques Garvey (1927); and printed materials on Liberia, Africa, Pan Africanism, racism, slavery, and other topics.
