The book Another Little Piece is full of tiny bits. The story begins with a young teen girl meeting with her shrink. This raises questions in the reader’s mind as she speaks of herself in the third person and goes out of her way to antagonize the doctor. We find out the girl, Annaliese, has a case of amnesia. More questions. She goes home with the people who say they are her parents. They try to jog her memory with no success. Hmm. Gradually, the story starts to take shape and by then, the reader is hooked. The careful construction by author Kate Karyus Quinn pays off as the questions build and the answers seem to lead to more queries. Readers who enjoy a taut drama interspersed with mystery will really enjoy this book. The characters are compelling and the plot takes it’s time to unwind. I would recommend this book and guess that a sequel is not far away.
