ANTICS is the last collection of short stories to appear from Ms. Berge before her death in 2006. In it she details certain tricks of the trade of selling "merch" while enchanting readers with various independent, free-thinking characters throughout the 22 loosely interwoven stories. Most intriguing of all is the structure of the book, which mimics that of James Joyce's masterpiece, "The Dubliners"; the finales are eerily similar and the way Joyce defined a turn-of-the-century Dublin surely was used as a model for the way Berge defined a turn-of-the-century subculture like antiquers.
