Antoni Literes: introdució a la seva obra is an introduction to the life and works of Antonio Literes or Antoni Lliteres (Artà, Mallorca, 1673-Madrid, 1747). Literes is one of the most prominent stage composers of the Spanish Baroque. After a review of the composer's childhood in Mallorca, his training at the Madrid Colegio de los Niños Cantorcicos, and his professional career at the Capilla Real, Literes's main stage works—Acis y Galatea and Los elementos—are analyzed. The reception of Literes's music from the 18th c. to the present is outlined, including the criticism and reviews of contemporary audio recordings and live performances. The appendix includes a list of all performers, stage directors, music festivals, publishing houses, record labels, and theaters involved in the dissemination of Literes's music. This is a good book for anyone interested in Literes' compositions and life's work.
