The collection consists of the papers of Asa Griggs Candler from 1821-1980. The papers contain personal correspondence; speeches; material related to Candler's personal, civic, and religious activities; correspondence and other material concerning Emory University; business papers, mainly relating to Candler's real estate dealings in the United States and Canada; clippings; photographs; and memorabilia. Business papers deal with banking activities and real estate transactions in Atlanta, Georgia, especially the Druid Hills area, and in other cities. Correspondence is to and from Candler and other family members, and concerns Emory College, Emory University, business matters including the Coca-Cola Company, and family life. Other materials relate to Candler's personal, religious, and civic life, including mayoral activities.
