Abstract:

Religious harmony is particularly important in the context of the nation-state of Indonesia which consists not only of different ethnic and cultural groups but also of different religious entities. More clearly still, Indonesia religious pluralism is reflected in the composition of total population according to religious affiliation. Even though, in religious terms, the Muslims form the largest religious majority in the country, Islam is not the official religion of the state. Thus, Indonesia is not a theoretical state, neither is it a secular one. Indonesia is a state based on five principles, called Pancasila, which gives religious a very respected place. -- Back cover.
