Material Type: Manuscript
Document Type: Book, Archival Material
All Authors / Contributors: Max Beerbohm, Sir; Ada Leverson; Frederick A Melhado
OCLC Number: 270621897
Notes: Written on stationery engraved "48, Upper Berkeley Street, W."
The date of writing is not given and from the contents of the letter there is some ambiguity as to the year of writing. Ada Leverson published her parody of Hichens in Punch in the July 4, 1896 issue, however it appears that Beerbohm did not move to 48 Upper Berkeley Street until 1897. Beerbohm refers to the exhibition of his caricatures at the Carfax Gallery on which he was working, but he did not have his first exhibition at Carfax until November 1901. He did have an exhibition of six of his caricatures in October 1896 at London's Fine Art Society.
