|Named Person:||Henry Thomas Austen; Maria Edgeworth|
|Document Type:||Book, Archival Material|
|All Authors / Contributors:||
Jane Austen; Cassandra Austen; Alfred Morrison
|Notes:||With seal, addressed to Miss Austen, Chawton, "By favour of Mr. Gray"; written from 23 Hans Place.
"From Hans Place, Augt 18th, For Lady K." written on the address panel, presumably in Cassandra Austen's hand.
The date is based on Austen's date, "Tuesday morning," and the note about the date on the address panel. Aug. 18 was not a Tuesday in 1814; Aug. 16 and Aug. 23 are the two possible Tuesdays that are close to Aug. 18.
The first page and a half are written "Tuesday morning"; "Wednesday morning" appears in the middle of p. 2.
Forms part of a collection of 41 letters from Austen to her sister and two prints (MA 977.1-43).
