Cabin beside Yellowstone River --
The was no busier man around that chuck wagon's tail than the "cushenaro" --
Harry Blaisdel and I cut out our string of horses --
Harry and I rode the range scouting for calves --
It seemed like every living creature, except horses, was drifting with each daily storm --
Whirling Blanco around I put spurs to him and broke the buck's neck --
Before the town was many weeks old the first killing occurred --
I watched his face closely and his dark thoughts were easily read --
We crossed trails with a band of Hunkpapa Sioux --
I wanted to see how hard he could buck --
Her big hat flopped up and down her shoulders and scared him --
We loaded the chuck wagon and moved on down the main line of the railway --
He surely showed us how he could shake up the saddle the moment it was cinched on --
A little after midday some of the townsmen induced them to put on an Indian dance.
