These old maps are just the greatest thing. It is amazing to see what things are the same and what is different after 109 years. Be advised that if you are looking for detailed info from Center Township, you need to search out the Indianapolis maps. Though this is Marion County and does include Indianapolis, the Indianapolis specific map has a much higher level of details for items withing the city. This map shows infrastructure such as streets, railways, and even trolley lines, but for the most part property parcels are not detailed out unless they are larger parcels (such as the L S Ayres property along Fall Creek).
I'm a bit of an amateur early Indy history buff, but seeing this map made me realize how little I knew about this city from back in the day. North Indianapolis, South Indianapolis, West Indianapolis? I didn't even know these places existed! To me, Glendale is what you call the area at 62nd & Keystone but in 1901, it's a town on the west side of Indy, just north of W. Indianapolis! Vertland? I thought Castleton was the only town along the rails on the north side, but here I found 2? And finding out the Meridian Street stopped just past 46th? Meridian Heights must have been one heck of a neighborhood in 1901.
Just looking at this map, even if you aren't looking for anything specific, is quite the learning experience. The copy I have at hand also has some hand drawn notes (some appearing to be as recent as the 1944) which are entertaining as well. For instance, several large properties just north of Lawrence have had a border drawn around them and the phrase 'US ARMY POST' written in the center.
All in all, a wonderful and invaluable resource.
