Comprises all the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) papers from the Barry Tuckwell Collection acquired by The University of Melbourne from Barry Tuckwell in 2009.
LSO papers dating mostly from the period Barry Tuckwell was board member, then Chairman of the LSO Board of Directors, until his resignation as a board member (1967) then as principal horn (1968) ; the other prominent Chairman of the period was Harry Dugarde ; John Cruft and Ernest Fleischmann were General Secretaries.
Collection contains 28 folders in 3 boxes. Box 1 (12 folders) contains the minutes of the LSO Limited's Board of Directors' meetings, 1957-1967 (11 folders) and one folder of correspondence relating to Barry Tuckwell's departure from the LSO (1968). Box 2 (9 folders) contains materials relating to the LSO Trust and fundraising ; the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians ; the London Orchestral Concert Board, Ltd. ; LSO pension and sickness schemes ; the LSO Club and Visiting Orchestras Consultative Association ; Tuckwell's performance and recordings contracts ; LSO annual reports ; the Orchestral Employers' Association ; the Musicians' Union, London Branch (1960-1962).
