Abstract:

Personal papers of pianist and philanthropist Bernice Geiringer, second wife of musicologist Karl Geiringer. The collection contains correspondence with musicians and friends, including Roslyn Tureck, files related to her philanthropic activity with the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Chapter of Hadassah, UCSB and The Santa Barbara Music Clubs, and the Marilyn Horne Foundation. Geiringer (then Bernice Abrams) also studied composition with Arnold Schoenberg in the 1930s at UCLA and her notebooks from these courses are also in the collection.
