Old Testament translated by Leo Juda, completed by Theodorus Bibliander; Apocrypha translated by Petrus Cholinus; New Testament is a revision of Erasmus' version, prepared by Rudolphus Gualtherus. Edited by Conrad Pellican. An appendix contains summaries of the contents of the chapters in Latin verse composed by R. Gualtherus.
ABS copy bound in French morocco, with gold-stamped borders on covers. Gilt edges. Red marbled end papers. Title, no. of volume, printer's name, and date in gold on spine.
Text printed in solid paragraph form, without verse nos. Woodcut initials over 9 lines at the beginning of books, bold-type initials over 2 lines at beginning of chapters and paragraphs. Title centered at top of page and in column, subject heading at left corner on most pages. Inner margins contain references, subject headings, notes; outer margins contain chapter headings, alternative renderings, notes.
ABS copy has MS notes on title page of vol. I dated 1550 and 1630, and on end papers of vol. II.
