Abstract:

American troops invade Great Britain in this episode of the U.S. Army's The Big Picture television series. Stationed on the soil of this allied nation for the first time in history, American soldiers have been placed in Quonset huts from one end of England to the other for the purpose of protecting the numerous air bases of the Strategic Air Command. As this film from the National Archives and Records Administration progresses, viewers will accompany American soldiers as they learn to work and play in England. "Soldier in Britain" takes viewers on a trip to Trafalgar Square, the center of London, to watch a game of rugby at Oxford, to visit the historic Westminster Abbey, and much more.
