Abstract:

Arthur Lawrence was a local businessman in Ft. Sill. He inherited from his father the Original Red Store, located on the Fort Sill Army post. Mr. Lawrence was very involved in the local community and was particularly interested in the Native American community.

The first three card files include biographical, genealogical and historical information about Lawton and Ft. Sill residents. The information was gathered from many sources including membership applications to the Comanche County Historical Society, the Lawton Constitution, local histories, personal letters, diaries and journals. The card files include some original clippings from the Lawton Constitution newspaper.

The fourth card file contains Comanche and Kiowa names taken from the 1890, 1892-3 Comanche census from Ft. Sill. The file also includes historical information about Ft. Sill and about the Comanche taken from various sources including newspapers and local histories.
