An excellent foundation resource   (2011-01-08)

While the book only covers the pre-labor through breastfeeding aspect of pregnancy (written as a guide for doulas this makes sense), I felt it really addressed well what my role as a first time father should be during the birth process.  It is heavily focused on natural childbirth, but gives pretty detailed information on interventions as well (including good high level descriptions of how the various drugs used in the hospital setting work).  While I would recommend dads-to-be get as much information as they can on the subject, this would make an excellent foundation resource.
