While this storyt seems so improbable (the story takes place in Durham, but it could be Cleveland, Ohio, too), it's the reality we live with in every major community in America. It's a parable for our times. How do we undo the past and live together as family? My only criticism would be prose that sometimes veers to cardboard cut-outs, but overall, a great read, which should prompt civic dialogue.
