Abstract:

A facsimile edition of the National Gallery's copy of Frank's first book, designed by Werner Zyrd in 1952, handmade and containing a selection of original photographs, one of only three copies made. The three originals were given to Edward Steichen (later sent to the Museum of Modern Art), his parents, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington. The facsimile was released in conjunction with the major international exhibition titled "Moving Out," organized by the National Gallery of Art, and shown at the National Gallery from 2 October to 31 December 1994 and various other museums.
