Reminiscent of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis: One of the true tests of a great book is how it transports and even transforms me. The language and writing of this one are robust, even, and certain throughout. Incredible events seem perfectly plausible and I could be - in fact was - many of its characters in more than a few situations along the way. I liked how the author built excitement by diverting the focus away from individuals just as I was lured into their latest predicament. Moral and theological lessons aside, it shows how ordinary people can make a difference and how we share this commonality with the most unsuspecting among us. Looking forward to Volume II - and the continuation of the story.
