Abstract:

This CD-ROM was designed as a companion piece to the book Blood Cinema: the reconstruction of national identity in Spain, by Marsha Kinder. Both can each function autonomously, yet they are most productive when used together.

You can start with the CD-ROM and use its brief overview as an introduction to the book, or you can start with the book, and then turn to the CD-ROM, which contains brief excerpts from 15 films, with detailed analytical commentaries and hundreds of illustrations--including movie stills, publicity photos, paintings, drawings, and maps.

Within each of six sections, you will find excerpts from films that illustrate the conceptual issues. As you watch each excerpt, you can listen to a detailed critical commentary, which can also be read. For each film a brief historical overview, and a list of production credits are available.

'Blood cinema' enables you to explore the breadth of Spanish films and culture over the last 60 years ..."--Flyer.
