Portraits of educator, African-American leader and founder of Tuskegee Institute, Booker T. Washington. Collection consists mainly of individual portraits of Washington, including views ofthe statue erected at Tuskegee and the bust at NYU Hall of Fame. Washington is in a couple of group portraits with Andrew Carnegie, Charles W. Eliot, Robert C. Ogden, Lyman Abbott, H.B. Trissell, J.G. Phelps Stokes, and Margaret Murray Washington. Also views of a stamp honoring Washington, a caricature and a presentation at the U.S. Mint of the Booker T. Washington memorial half dollar. Full, half and quarter length portraits are included.
