Recital - Shirley Verrett - 1991

Abstract:

Recital of various songs.

The "Profiles in Music" program features broadcaster Bernard Levin interviewing Shirley Verrett for the BBC in 1971 . He asks her about singing "Carmen"; about operas versus recitals; about her mezzo-soprano voice and the opportunities and challenges presented by it; and about her life. She sings various arias and discusses her approaches to those roles, such as Delilah, Orpheus and Amneris.
