This book gives texture and life to the national debate on same-sex marriage.

The author and her partner of 17 years were among the couples who stood in line with their kids for marriage licenses on the first day that Multnomah County (Portland, OR) offered them to same-sex couples. This memoir, at times comic and at times poignant, offers a look at one family's relationship to the social and legal institution of marriage.
