Abstract:

Episode 4: At Brideshead the following Easter, Charles tries to cover up for Sebastian's drinking, but Sebastian accuses him of being a spy for his mother. Sebastian leaves for London, ashamed and defiant. When Charles remains behind to make his farewells, Lady Marchmain begs him to try and help her son.

Episode 5: Charles returns to Brideshead for the 1925 New Year's holiday and discovers that Sebastian has just arrived home from his travels. Lady Marchmain has now forbidden drink to be served openly in the house. Arriving late to dinner, Sebastian requests a horse to join the next day's hunt, but he later tells Charles he has no intention of hunting.

Episode 6: Rex visits Charles at his Paris studio, where he hopes to find Sebastian. Over dinner that night, Rex tells Charles of Lady Marchmain's illness and the family's money troubles. Rex also announces that he plans to marry Julia. Back in London, Rex eventually wins Lady Marchmain's reluctant consent, provided he convert to Catholicism.

Episode 7: In May 1926, Charles returns to England for the General Strike. While delivering supplies in the East End, he runs into Boy Mulcaster, who tells him Sebastian is now living in Fez. Julia tells Charles that Lady Marchmain is dying and asks him to find Sebastian and bring him home.
