Abstract:

Brooke's Battery or Brooke's Artillery was organized in 1862 under the command of Captain James Vass Brooke. It was assigned to the 12th Battalion of the Virginia Light Artillery as Company A (1st). It later became an independent company and served with several different military units. In 1863 it came under the command of Captain Addison W. Utterback.

The Loudoun Artillery was organized in 1859 and enlisted in 1861 under the command of Captain Arthur Lee Rogers of the Virginia Light Artillery. It was temporarily assigned to the 8th Regiment of the Virginia Infantry. In 1862 it became part of Stribling's Battery, afterwards Company A of the 38th Battalion of the Virginia Light Artillery.

Fauquier Artillery was organized and enlisted in 1861 as Company G (1st) of the 49th Infantry Regiment of the Virginia Volunteers. It was also known at that time as the Markham Guards. Later in 1861 it became Captain Robert M. Stribling's Company of the Virginia Light Artillery and was subsequently assigned as Company A of the 38th Battalion of the Virginia Light Artillery. It was here it became known as the Fauquier Artillery.

The Alexandria Artillery was organized in 1861 under the command of Captain Delaware Kemper as a Virginia Light Artillery unit. In 1862 it was under the command of Captain David L. Smoot and in 1864 it was assigned to the 18th Battalion of the Virginia Heavy Artillery as Company E.
