The Buckner-Kingsbury suit was remanded to the Illinois Supreme Court in January and the decision rendered on Oct. 6, 1871. This summary was published on Oct. 9, 1871, as a supplement to the Louisville daily ledger, Louisville, Ky., noting that "the great fire [i.e., Chicago, Oct. 8-9, 1871] alone has enabled the Ledger to anticipate the publication of this interesting opinion in Chicago."
