American edition has "Printed in the United States of America" on verso of title page and was published with fleur-de-lis in royal blue and cream check pattern covers; lettered in gilt up the spine with Voltaire across the head and Nonesuch at the tail; issued in plain paper covered slipcase.
This title was the first of the Ten great French romances planned to be published by the Nonesuch Press.
