Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs Missing Treasure! by Giles Andreae and illustrated by Russell Ayto tells the story of the dinosaur-crazy and pirate-loving Flinn who visits a museum with his class and is told that the treasure of the famous Captain Rufus Rumblebelly was stolen the night before. He and his friends follow the feather and the coin clues to a secret cupboard that leads to the pirate's ship where the grandson of Captain Rufus Rumblebelly admits he stole it and says the thieves come from Bag O Bones Island. They go there and find Pirate Dinosaurs who chant in rhyme. A spider scares the largest of the dino-pirates, and Flinn then recovers the treasure, which he returns to the museum. The graphics are interesting and there is a game of snakes & ladders at the end. This book will surely get checked out, but probably not repeatedly. The plot is thin and illustrations chaotic.
