|Notes:||Letter from Gen. Peter B. Porter to J.C. Spencer, dated Canandaigna [i.e., Canandaigua], May 1, 1813, describing the battle; followed by song in twelve stanzas; first line: When Britain with envy and malice inflam'd.
Relief cut of ship at right of center cut also appears on Captain Ward, the pirate (Ford, W.C. Broadsides, 3006) printed at Boston by Nathaniel Coverly, Jr. between 1810 and 1814. American Antiquarian Society copy bound in the Isaiah Thomas collection of broadside ballads, v. III, no. 37, presented to the society in August 1814.
Two states noted. In the later state the spelling of Canandaigua is corrected.
