Abstract:

Collection of digitized photographs and documents related to Everyman's House, the 1924 Better Homes in America model home contest winner. The house, designed and built in Kalamazoo, Michigan, by Caroline Bartlett Crane, a prominent social activist and minister in Kalamazoo's early history, was also winner of Herbert Hoover's "Better Homes of America" campaign. Images include interior and exterior photographs of the house, blueprints, architectural drawings and plans, letters from Herbert Hoover and Calvin Coolidge, a telegraph from Lyman Beecher Stowe, and the assignment of copyright for Crane's book about the house.
