A photograph of a cartoon by Philip Burne-Jones showing three men standing in attitudes of disconsolation around an empty bottle, below which is the quotation from Grover Cleveland: "A condition not a theory confronts us." An inscription by "A.C., Skibo Castle, 22 Aug., 1899" indicates that the men in the cartoon are Rudyard Kipling, his father, John Lockwood Kipling, and the artist himself. Also featured is the inscription "The Manse, Creich."
