Abstract:

In 2014, China Central Television (CCTV) produced the first television genealogy show "Where Do I Come From", which caused a broad debate, and set off a trend to "seek for root". The main reason for the success of this television program is the innovation, cooperation and promotion of the program. The novel form combines the mode of documentary characters and reality shows styles; rich content: tracing the ancestor's story and connecting with the national history; new venues for promotion: combining the methods of TV media and social media together. This paper is based on the basic theory of communication, analyzing this show to explore innovations through the interviews conducted by the author of this thesis and the experience and wish to provide a reference for future research and production of cultural television programs.
