Abstract:

The little town of Pickax is celebrating its scottishheritage with Highland Games, bagpipe skirling, and caber tossing. Among other festivities, it has been planned to reopen the town's hotel in grand style, and the mysterious Mr. Delacamp, a estate jewelry dealer from Chicago, is expected to participate. But, he is found murdered in his room - and his assistant is missing! Then the winner of the caber-tossing contestdisappears as well, and it's up to journalist/philantropist Jim Qwilleran to get to the bottom of the mystery. Could Koko's newfound interest in photographs, pennies, and paper towels help lead Qeilleran to the murderer?
