Reporting the nation

Abstract:

Reporting the nation is made up of time capsules and looks at themes that reflect the past five decades and Australia's growth as a nation. Economic expansion, cultural change, immigration, industrial laws, Aboriginal rights, women's rights, the environment, beach culture and terrorism are just some of the subjects explored. The program includes some of the significant political events that steered our country's history, natural disasters and those man-made, the events we wish to forget and those that we will never forget. The documentary highlights the ABC's excellence in TV journalism, including a discussion of Four Corners and This Day Tonight.
