Abstract:

Contents of five dismantled scrapbooks kept by this Minneapolis businessman known for his many years of service to the city's park system. They include newspaper clippings, photographs, programs, correspondence, postcards, and booklets documenting, in particular, his work on the Minneapolis Board of Park Commissioners, Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce, and American Park and Out-Door Art Association.

A large portion of the materials deal with the celebration of Arbor Day 1916 as "Loring Day," and Loring's initiative in the construction (1921) of Minneapolis' tree-lined Victory Memorial Driveway, a memorial to the dead of World War I.
