Plot Summary: A cat named Chato hears mice moving one day into the house next door. He decided that he would invite them to dinner and to his surprise they accepted his invite.
Personal Response: I really enjoyed reading this story because it brings back so many memories with all the food it talked about. Since I am Hispanic I can relate to this story and I think many others can too. I was shocked to hear that some Mexican Americans object to the portrayal of Chato. .the book contains a glossary of words in Spanish and what they mean in English. Also, there is a menu from Chato’s. It not only contains English within the text but also Spanish words. The illustrations were funny and interesting, they were detailed and colorful. I liked how the cats danced around in the kitchen while cooking. It is not every day or should I use say see a cat dance around cooking.
