Abstract:

Chung had been raised by old Chinese Li Clung in a little Arizona town. There was a mystery about his birth, but none about his skill with weapons. Men would as soon have put hands on a rattler coiled to strike as to have touched him. At first he shot in self-protection and his aggressors were cut down suddenly, neatly, with bullets through their heads. Then he killed recklessly to avenge an insult and he had to flee with a posse in hot pursuit. Thus he began the long journey that was to take him far from the border country into strange and dangerous adventures.
