Abstract:

"In this video interview, cognitive-behavioral therapy and aggression expert Dr. Donald Meichenbaum discusses early-intervention strategies for children and adolescents who are prone to bullying and violent behaviors. You will learn about the neurological consequences of childhood abuse and neglect and the components of stress inoculation and CBT used to break the cycle of violence. Drawing upon his unique expertise, Meichenbaum articulates both how violent individuals are created and the thoughts that drive violent behavior. By watching this video, you will be able to describe key components of Meichenbaum's theory of early childhood development and its relationship to violence and aggression; identify the predictors for violence and the interventions used in schools to decrease violent behavior; and explain the key elements of effective cognitive-behavioral treatment for violence. Intended for students and practitioners in clinical psychology, counseling, and social work."
