||Charles Donald O'Malley prize in medical history.
The Charles Donald O'Malley Prize in Medical History was awarded annually, 1988-2001, for the best unpublished essay on a medico-historical subject written by a student then enrolled in the UCLA School of Medicine. The prize served to honor the memory of UCLA's distinguished medical historian (Charles Donald O'Malley, 1907-1970), and to encourage an interest in the history of medicine among medical students. It was made possible through the support of the Ahmanson Foundation. The prize consisted of a medal and monetary honorarium; each honorable mention awardee received a certificate and an honorarium. The collection of typescript essays consists of 25 prize-winning and honorable mention essays.
