Abstract:

Community and Campus examines the processes that need to be put in place to achieve effective ongoing partnerships between a university and its regional area. It also looks at the benefits that arise when universities and local communities actively work together. The case studies show the great things that can be accomplished when diverse groups become involved in trying to improve their local area, whether for economic, environmental, social or cultural reasons. They show that when communities and universities work together, the effects can far exceed individual efforts, and sometimes these effects can have wide-ranging and unexpected benefits.
