Abstract:
Abstract histories of the movements and activities of Virginia military units. Original muster rolls and returns are the principal sources of information on the captain cards and envelopes that list officers. Rosters, payrolls, hospital registers, casualty lists, Union prison registers and rolls, parole rolls, and inspection reports were also abstracted. Because many Confederate Army records were lost or destroyed, the compiled military histories of most units are incomplete. This accession is part of a larger National Archives microfilm publication.
