In all four versions of Show boat as a motion picture, the dashing Gaylord Ravenal and the lovely Magnolia Hawks grapple with love, disappointment, loss and acceptance both on and off her father's Mississippi riverboat in a turbulent relationship in which Magnolia transforms from a shy, guileless girl into a mature woman.
