In Lemony Snicket's usual dark humor, this story follows an Inspector as he tries to solve the mystery of a Composer's suspicious death.  He believes it was one of the instruments in the orchestra that did it!  He interrogates each instrument, and although they each have a motive (perhaps the violins murdered the Composer for making them play so much!), they also have an alibi (they would never want to kill the Composer, or otherwise they would have to find work at square dances or in romantic restaurants)!  This is a clever story that would be best appreciated by readers 5th grade and up who may play in an orchestra or have a musical background.
