The Concise Rules of APA Style pocket style guide is a useful tool for those needing quick answers to the APA style. The pocket guide contains a contents at a glance page on the inside flap, along with a detailed overview of the books contents in the contents section. Writing strategies to make concise bias-free writing is discussed as well as grammar, punctuation, and reference citations; examples of references are included. In comparison to the APA Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, this style guide is much more user friendly. The concise size and inclusion of more common formatting concerns make it quicker and easier to find the location of information. Different sections are also separated out by green text, making the sections and chapters clearly distinguishable by subject. In the APA publication manual the sections are separated out by larger black font, which does not make the sections as clear. This pocket style reference guide is ideal for travel. It is convenient to carry to classes or to writing groups, or libraries because of its small size. The spiral binding is convenient for using page holders, or writing notes in margins, for commonly used pages. Overall, this is a cohesive, useful style guide.
