Abstract:

A series of letters from British diplomat and biographer to Otto Kyllmann and Michael Sadleir of the British publishing firm, Constable & Co., concerning the publication, sales and review of his books including "Paul Verlaine," "Tennyson," "Public Faces," "Peacemaking, 1919," and "The English Sense of Humor and Other Essays."

The correspondence also includes letters from Nicolson's wife, Victoria Sackville-West, and his son, Nigel Nicolson. The correspondence also documents Nicolson's activities as a reader for Constable? Nicolson makes reference to works by Geoffrey Scott (Portrait of Zelide), Sir Coleridge Kennard, James Pope-Hennessy, and Baron Richard Houghton. Also included are memoranda and newspaper clippings.
