The contract for printing both the journal of the constitutional convention (Shaw & Shoemaker 37925) and the constitution itself was given to Mann Butler (of Butler & Wood). These Louisville editions predate both the Vincennes and Washington, D.C. 1816 editions. Cf. Byrd & Peckham.

Accepting "the propositions of the Congress of the United States, as made and contained in their act ... entitled, 'An act to enable the people of Indiana Territory to form a state government and constitution ... '" Also exempts all land in Indiana formerly owned by the U.S. government from state, county and local taxes for a period of five years. Signed: Jonathan Jennings, president of the covention.
